Crankworx New Zealand
This was my second time judging in Rotorua New Zealand and it’s an amazing course built by riders for a high level Slopestyle contest on Mountain bikes. This was the first stop of the year and it’s great to see the progression from all the riders over the off season
UCI National Judges Training Seminar
The UCI asked me to produce and deliver a BMX Freestyle park judging course so we can teach brand new judges to work on a national level within their own countries and develop into international judges. Over 20 people from all parts of the world came for this two day course and I’m hoping to meet them all again and see thier progress in the field.
UCI International Judging Seminar
The UCI asked me to produce and deliver a BMX Freestyle judging course to help further the education of current international judges for the world tour and Olympic Games events. We had a great turnout of riders and judges.
Simple Session Estonia
This was my 6th time judging the bmx park and street contests in Tallinn Estonia. It’s always a great contest to start the year with. So many types of riders from all over the world come to this event. It’s a tough one to judge but it helps as we get the best view and are always treated well by the organisers.
German Judging Seminar
I was asked by the BDR to teach existing German judges what they need to do to move up onto the next level and be a judge for National Championships and on an international level. We had a productive two days with lots of theory and some practice. I’m excited to see them in action later in the year.

I was asked by the South Korean Cycling Federation in Seoul South Korea to hold a three day seminar all about BMX Freestyle. I went through everything from how to hold a contest, how to judge contest and how to coach BMX Freestyle. We had classroom sessions and also practical lessons at the skatepark along with mock contests.
UCI Urban World Championships
This was the last big contest of the year in Chengdu China and all the riders wanted this title. It was one of the toughest events of the year to judge and I was head judging. All riders were helping collect points towards the Olympics in Tokyo so there was a lot riding on this one.
Chinese National BMX Contest
Whilst in China for two weeks we also held the first ever Chinese National Championships in male and female to help the Chinese Cycling Federation decide who to enter into the UCI Urban World Championships the week after
Freestyle BMX judging seminar China

FISE UCI Chengdu China
The last stop of the FISE World Series was held again in Chengdu China for the 5th year. We were in a new venue but the course was just as good as always. There was a good turn out for amateurs and juniors as well. A long weekend judging and a few crashes in peoples runs meant the rankings were constantly changing. What an amazing year with FISE again.
2018 Youth Olympic Games
This was the first ever BMX Freestyle competition in the Olympic Games and it was held in Buenos Aires Argentina. After many months of planning and preparation it was finally out time to show the Olympic audience what BMX Freestyle has to offer. There were 8 male and 8 female riders competing over two days with seeding rounds, qualification and big and small finals. The weather held out for us and it was a successful event for the riders, organisers,UCI and the Olympics.
UCI Facilitator Course
I was invited by the UCI to attend a facilitator training course at the World Cycling Centre in Aigle Switzerland. This was an amazing opportunity for me to help learn how to become a teacher of BMX Freestyle and for future judging seminars.
Battle Of Hastings UK
This was my third year judging the three year old contest held in Hastings England. It’s got a different twist as it’s a team event where team captains invite the riders for their own team. It’s always a very core BMX crowd and an intense atmosphere inside the building.
